The School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal, was established by the Government of India in 2008 as an Institution of National Importance. Over the years, it has evolved into a vibrant academic community dedicated to excellence in the four core disciplines of Architecture, Planning, Design, and Building Engineering and Management. The school fosters creative thinking, technical competence, and social sensitivity, preparing students to engage thoughtfully with the physical, cultural, and environmental dimensions of development in India and beyond.
Envisioned as a “University of Imagination,” the campus, spanning 70+ acres, fosters a spirit of inquiry among students, faculty, researchers, and the wider community. Academic programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels combine design innovation, analytical rigor, and field engagement.
SPA Bhopal also serves as a national hub for research, consultancy, and knowledge support in settlement and habitat development. It collaborates with governments and institutions, builds comprehensive research and data systems, and mentors emerging schools of architecture and planning in the region. With a strong, dedicated faculty across Architecture, Planning, Design, and Building Engineering and Management, the School offers students an intellectually enriching, professionally empowering academic environment and engaging campus life, deeply connected to society’s evolving needs.
